Summer (self notes):
On hotter days, consume more cooling resh food liks salds, sprouts (especially mung, soy and alfalfa), fruit, cucumber, tofu and flower and leaf teas (chrysanthemum, mint and chamomile). The best fruits that can cool summer heat are applpes, watermelon, lemons and limes. If you can tolerate spicy food, add a small amount of spicy, pungent or fiery flavors for its dispersing action. Eventhough it's hot during the summer, warm food is still recommended since excessive cold food combined with the summer's heat can weaken the digestive systems. To induce sweat to cool the body, hot liquids or warm showers are recommended. However, in excess, weakness and loss of yang, or body heat, will arise. One's ability to stay warm and vital during cooler seasons is lost. Added to this, heavy food on hot days can cause sluggishness. Examples range from meats, eggs, to excessive nuts, seeds and grains.
